AUGUST 27TH TEXHOMA MORNING DERECHO ON TUESDAY AUGUST 27TH A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE STORMS WAS FORECAST FOR THAT PART OF TEXHOMA MAINLY NORTHWEST OF A LINE FROM ALTUS TO OKLAHOMA CITY. A COMPLEX OF STORMS WAS FORECAST TO ROLL ACROSS TEXHOMA DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS AND IT DID. AT 10PM A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH WAS ISSUED TILL 4AM FOR OUR NORTHERN TEXHOMA COUNTIES FOR STORMS ROLLING OUT OF NORTHWEST OKLAHOMA AND KANSAS. THESE STORMS WOULD FORM A DERECHO OR A COMPLEX LINE OF STORMS WITH HIGH WINDS. ANOTHER SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH WAS ISSUED UNTIL 6AM FOR OUR COUNTIES NORTH OF THE RED RIVER AND YET ANOTHER WATCH WOULD BE ISSUED UNTIL 9AM FOR COUNTIES SOUTH OF THE RED RIVER. SEVERE WINDS WOULD TEAR ACROSS TEXHOMA PRODUCING THE FOLLOWING REPORTS. WASHITA COUNTY HAD 60 MPH WINDS 4 MILES WNW OF BESSIE. 58 MPH WINDS 2 MILES SOUTH OF RETROP. CADDO COUNTY HAD 63 MPH WINDS 7 MILES WEST OF HINTON. 63 MPH WINDS4 MILES SOUTHEAST OF HOBART IN KIOWA COUNTY. 66 MPH WINDS IN GRADY COUNTY 4 MILES NORTHWEST OF CHICKASHA. 76 MPH WINDSAT FREDERICK IN TILLMAN COUNTY. 66 MPH WINDS 3 MILES SOUTHWEST OF LAWTON. 67 MPH WINDS AT DUNCAN IN STEPHENS COUNTY. 74 MPH AT BURKBURNETT IN WICHITA COUNTY. 61 MPH AT 1 MILES NORTH OF HENRIETTA. 65 MPH AT WICHITA FALLS. 60 MPH AT NOCONNA IN MONTAGUE COUNTY. 60 MPH 4 MILES NORTHWEST OF JACKSBORO IN JACK COUNTY. 63 MPH AT 1 MILE NORTH RINGLING & 60 MPH AT CHICO IN WISE COUNTY. SEPTEMBER 18TH TEXHOMA COLDFRONT/DRYLINE STORMS
ON WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 18TH A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE STORMS WAS FORECAST FOR THAT PART OF TEXHOMA MAINLY WEST OF A LINE FROM ARDMORE TO OKLAHOMA CITY AND ON TO THE NORTH. AT NOON HOWEVER THIS AREA WOULD BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ALL OF TEXHOMA. A STRONG COLD FRONT WAS FORECAST TO MOVE ACROSS THE AREA BRINGING WITH IT THE THREAT FOR SEVERE STORMS. A DRYLINE WAS ALSO FOR CAST TO MOVE OUT AHEAD OF THIS FRONT DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON HOURS AND IF A STRONG CAPPING INVERSION COULD BE OVERCOME SEVERE STORMS COULD ALSO BREAK OUT ALONG IT. AT ABOUT 3PM A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH WAS ISSUED UNTIL 9PM FOR A LARGE PART OF TEXHOMA. STORMS BEGAN TO EASILY OVERCOME THE CAP AND FORM IN WESTERN PARTS OF TEXHOMA. IN WASHITA COUNTY NICKEL SIZE HAIL SIZE HAIL WAS REPORTED 2 MILES NORTH OF LAKE VALLEY. WHILE IN KIOWA COUNTY A SUPERCELL STORM FORMED AND ALSO PRODUCED NICKEL SIZE HAIL 3 MILES SSE OF COOPERTON. THIS STORM WOULD ALSO PRODUCE WINDS TO 85 MPH AT HOBART. THE STORM WOULD MOVE INTO CADDO COUNTY AND PRODUCE SOFTBALL SIZE HAIL AT BOONE ALONG WITH QUARTER SIZE HAIL 5 MILES SOUTHWEST OF ANADARKO AND NICKEL SIZE HAIL 1 MILE SOUTH OF HINTON. THIS STORM WOULD DIE OVER GRADY COUNTY. ANOTHER STORM FORMED IN KNOX COUNTY TEXAS AND PRODUCED WINDS TO 60 MPH 3 MILES EAST OF VERA. THE STORM WOULD THEN MOVE INTO BAYLOR COUNTY PRODUSING WINDS TO 60 MPH 5 MILES NORTHEAST OF SEYMOUR. THIS SAME STORM WOULD MOVE INTO ARCHER & WICHITA COUNTIES PRODUCING QUARTER SIZE HAIL 4 MILES SOUTHWEST OF WICHITA FALLS AND AT MANKINS. THE STORMS WOULD DIE OUT BUT A SQUALL LINE WOULD FORM JUST AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT AND PUSH INTO TEXHOMA BETWEEN 10-1AM. SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCHES WERE EXTENDED FROM 2-4AM IN MOST AREAS AND AREAS NORTH OF THE RED RIVER WAS UPGRADED TO A MODERATE RISK. OCTOBER 6TH TEXHOMA COLD FRONT STORMS ON SUNDAY OCTOBER 6TH A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE STORMS WAS FORECAST FOR THAT PART OF TEXHOMA MAINLY SOUTH AND EAST OF A LINE FROM OKLAHOMA CITY TO LAWTON TO HENRIETTA TO SEYMOUR TEXAS. A STRONG COLD FRONT WAS FORECAST TO PUSH ITS WAY INTO THE AREA FROM THE NORTHG SPARKING SHOWERS AND STORMS AHEAD AND ALONG IT. WHILE NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCHES WERE ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNINGS WERE ISSUED FOR COMANCHE COUNTY AS A STRONG STORM DROPPED QUARTER TO GOLFBALL SIZE HAIL ALONG WITH WINDS TO 60 MPH. GOLFBALL SIZE HAIL WAS REPORTED 3 MILES SOUTH OF CACHE AS WELL AS IN DOWNTOWN LAWTON. WINDS OF 60 MPH WERE REPORTED IN LAWTON AS WELL AS 13 MILES EAST OF LAWTON. THE STORM WOULD PUSH INTO STEPHENS COUNTY AND PRODUCE QUARTER SIZE HAIL 4 MILES SOUTH OF MARLOW AND 60 MPH WINDS 7 MILES NORTHWEST OF DUNCAN AND 2 MILES WEST NORTHWEST OF ALMA. OTHER SEVERE STORMS WOULD OCCUR IN JACK MONTAGUE & WISE COUNTIES OF TEXAS. THESE STORMS PRODUCED WINDS TO 60 MPH AT CRAFTON IN WISE COUNTY. TREES AND LIMBS WERE REPORTED DOWN. ON THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 20TH A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE STORMS WAS FORECAST FOR A LARGE PORTION OF TEXHOMA. A COOL FRONT WAS FORECAST TO MAKE ITS WAY ACROSS THE AREA SPARKING SHOWERS AND STORMS ALONG IT. AT 3PM A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH WAS ISSUED FOR MUCH OF WESTERN TEXHOMA UNTIL 9PM. SHOWERS AND STORMS FIRED IN THE FAR WESTERN COUNTIES AND SOON BECAME SEVERE. SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNINGS WERE ISSUED FOR COTTLE AND CHILDRESS COUNTIES AS ANOTHER SEVERE THUNDERSTOM WATCH WAS ISSUED FOR THROCKMORTON AND HASKELL COUNTIES UNTIL 11PM. THE SLIGHT RISK AREA OR AT LEAST PARTS OF IT TO THE WEST WERE UPGRADED TO A MODERATE RISK AS WELL. OTHER WARNINGS WERE ISSUED FOR FOARD HARDEMAN KING HASKELL AND KNOX COUNTIES. ONE PARTICULAR STORM TRIED TO PRODUCE A TORNADO NEAR PADUCAH TEXAS AND A TORNADO WARNING WAS ISSUED FOR KING COUNTY AS WINDS OVER 90MPH WERE REPORTED ALONG WITH BASEBALL SIZE HAIL. THE STORMS ALSO PRODUCED FLASH FLOODING IN COTTLE COUNTY AS A FLASH FLOOD WARNING WAS ISSUED. THE STORM MAY HAVE DROPPED AS MUCH AS FOUR INCHES OF RAIN. THE STORMS DIED OUT ABOUT 10PM BEFORE MOVING TO THE SOUTHEAST. EARLIER IN THE DAY SEVERE STORMS ALSO EFFECTED GRADY AND CADDO COUNTIES IN OKLAHOMA. THESE STORMS WERE ELEVATED AND ONLY PRODUCED ABOUT NICKEL SIZE HAIL. |

SEPTEMBER 19TH CHILDRESS COUNTY STORM ON WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 19TH A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE STORMS WAS FORECAST FOR EXTREME PORTIONS OF WESTERN TEXHOMA. THE SLIGHT RISK AREA BASICALLY INCLUDED CHILDRESS COTTLE AND KING COUNTIES AND INTO THE TEXAS PANHANDLE. A COOL FRONT WAS FORECAST TO SPARK SEVERE STORMS INTO KANSAS AND THE OKLAHOMA AND TEXAS PANAHANDLES. A SEVERE TORNADIC STORMS DID FORM IN THE CENTRAL PORTIONS OF THE TEXAS PANAHANDLE BUT ONLY ONE STORM FORMED. THIS STORM DIED OUT AND SENT AN OUTFLOW BOUNDARY T THE SOUTHEAST TOWARDS CHILDRESS COUNTY. AT ABOUT 11PM A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING WAS ISSUED FOR CHILDRESS COUNTY AS A STORM FORMED ALONG THE OUTFLOW BOUNDARY. THIS STORM DID NOT DO MUCH IN THE WAY OF SEVERE WEATHER IN CHILDRESS COUNTY BUT HALL COUNTY YO THE WEST DID RECEIVE QUARTER SIZE HAIL NEAR ESTELINE TEXAS. THE STORM SOON DIED OUT. NICKEL SIZE HAIL AND WINDS TO 60MPH WERE REPORTED IN CHILDRESS COUNTY. |
SEPTEMBER 18TH WISE COUNTY STORM
ON TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 18TH A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE STORMS WAS FORECAST FOR EASTERN PORTIONS OF THE AREA. THE SLIGHT RISK AREA WAS EAST OF A LINE FROM OKLAHOMA CITY TO FREDERICK TO CROWELL TEXAS. STORMS WERE EXPECTED TO FORM ALONG A STALLED OUTFLOW BOUNDARY FROM STORMS IN NORTHERN AND CENTRAL OKLAHOMA FROM THE NIGHT BEFORE AND ALSO ALONG A COOL FRONT THAT MADE ITS WAY ACROSS THE AREA. AT 4 PM A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH WAS ISSUED FOR A LARGE PORTION OF EASTERN AND SOUTHERN TEXHOMA. THIS WATCH WOULD BE IN EFFECT UNTIL 10PM. SEVERE STORMS BEGAN TO FORM ALONG THE COOL FRONT NEAR JACKSBORO TEXAS. THE STORMS WERE SEVERE IN WISE AND PALO PINTO COUNTIES AS WELL AS THE DFW ARE. IN WISE COUNTY NICKEL SIZE HAIL FELL IN BLUETT AS WELL AS REPORTS OF WINDS TO 65 MPH. 6O MPH WINDS WERE ALSO REPORTED IN ALVORD WHERE POWER LINES WERE REPORTED DOWNED. |

SEPTEMBER 17TH MONTAGUE COUNTY STORM ON MONDAY SEPTEMBER 17TH A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE STORMS WAS FORECAST FOR THE NORTHWESTERN SECTIONS OF TEXHOMA DUE TO AN APROACHING COOL FRONT MAKING ITS WAY ACROSS TEXHOMA. SHOWERS AND SEVERE STORMS DID FORM ACROSS PARTS OF THE TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA PANHANDLES AND THESE STORMS DID MOVE ACROSS THE AREA ESPECIALLY THE NORTHERN PARTS OVERNIGHT. OTHER SHOWERS AND STORMS FORMED EARLIER IN THE DAY OVER WICHITA ARCHER AND BAYLOR COUNTIES AND FORMED INTO A COMPLEX THAT MADE ITS WAY TO THE EAST. THESE SHOWERS AND STORMS WERE NOT SEVERE AND WERE NOT EXPECTED TO BECOME SEVERE. HOWEVER ABOUT 7PM A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING WAS ISSUED FOR MONTAGUE COUNTY. 6O MPH WINDS WERE REPORTED IN BOWIE WHERE A TRUCK WAS REPORTED BLOWN OVER AT U.S. 287 AND U.S. 81. ANOTHER TRUCK WAS ALSO BLOWN OVER AT THE INTERSECTION OF U.S. 287 AND FM 1125. 70 MPH WINDS WERE REPORTED 2 MILES SOUTH OF BOWIE AND ANOTHER REPORT OF 60MPH WINDS CAME IN AT FRUITLAND WHERE YET ANOTHER TRUCK WAS BLOWN OVER. THIS STORM PRODUCED HAIL TO QUARTER SIZE AND ALSO CHANEL 7 DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATED WINDS MAY HAVE BEEN AS HIGH AS 82 MPH. THE STORM ASLO DEVELOPED A HOOK ECHO SIGNATURE POSSIBLY SIGNIFYING ROTATION SO A SMALL F0-F1 TORANDO MIGHT HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE. TO SAY THE LEAST THIS WAS A SURPRISING POTENT STORM. THE STORMS DIED OUT ABOUT 8PM HOWEVER. |
